About Lake Elsinore, CA

The City of Lake Elsinore is the second oldest city in Riverside County, and celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 2013.  Lake Elsinore is almost equidistant from Los Angeles (73 miles) and San Diego (74 miles).  For its first five years, “Elsinore”, as it was then known, was part of San Diego County as Riverside County was not established until 1893.
The City of Lake Elsinore is a popular outdoor recreation destination for locals and tourists, with people visiting from all over the world to enjoy its glistening 3,300-acre lake.  As the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California, it beckons visitors to exciting water sports including fishing, boating, water skiing, windsurfing, wakeboarding.  Many also choose to simply relax at the lake while sunbathing or picnicking along its beautiful shores.
The scenic Ortega Mountains and Cleveland National Forest rise above the lake to create a picture-perfect paradise, providing opportunities for camping at El Caruso Campground, hiking the trails, horseback riding, bird watching and wildlife viewing, and mountain biking.
The warm winds from the Ortega Mountains sweep across the clean blue sky making Lake Elsinore famous for its enticing aerial sports including skydiving and hang-gliding.
For baseball-enthusiasts Lake Elsinore offers Lake Elsinore Diamond, also called Storm Stadium, which is primarily used for baseball and is the home field of the Lake Elsinore Storm minor league baseball team, a part of the California League.  In the left field corner you will find the Diamond Club Restaurant, which is a game day restaurant open to ticketed guests.  The Diamond Club also hosts wedding receptions and other special events.
Add motocross racing to the list of things to do in Lake Elsinore and sport enthusiasts will find endless activities.  When it’s time to relax, just kick-back and enjoy the beauty of this outdoor recreational paradise.
